Description
SANParks is seeking dedicated individuals to join our Tourism Monitors Programme. As a Tourism Monitor, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety, enjoyment, and adherence to park regulations by visitors within designated areas of South Africa's national parks.

Responsibilities
- Visitor Assistance: Provide assistance, information, and guidance to visitors regarding park rules, regulations, and points of interest.
- Safety Monitoring: Monitor visitor activities to ensure compliance with safety protocols and regulations, particularly in areas prone to wildlife encounters or environmental hazards.
- Environmental Awareness: Educate visitors about the importance of conservation, wildlife protection, and environmental stewardship, promoting responsible behavior within the park.
- Incident Response: Respond promptly and appropriately to any incidents, emergencies, or conflicts within the park, coordinating with park management and relevant authorities as necessary.
- Data Collection: Collect data on visitor demographics, behaviors, and feedback to inform park management decisions and enhance visitor experiences.
- Maintenance of Facilities: Conduct routine inspections of park facilities and amenities, reporting any maintenance or cleanliness issues for timely resolution.
- Collaboration: Collaborate effectively with park staff, law enforcement, and other stakeholders to ensure the smooth operation of tourism activities within the park.
Qualifications
- Minimum high school diploma or equivalent.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Passion for conservation and environmental sustainability.
- Ability to work effectively in a team as well as independently.
- Physically fit and able to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Prior experience in tourism, hospitality, or customer service is advantageous.
- Knowledge of local flora, fauna, and cultural heritage is desirable.
- First Aid certification and proficiency in additional languages are assets.
